Grant funds support the Department in many ways. Most importantly, grants enable FSS to offer much needed programs and services to Chicago's children and youth under a variety of federal and state programs. Our primary grant programs include Head Start, Early Head Start, Specialized Childcare, Employment-Related Childcare, Summer Food Service, Community Development Block Grant, and Workforce Investment Act.
The Grants Section provides administrative support for the Department of Children and Youth Services' development efforts by researching grant opportunities, preparing and submitting grant applications, and processing grant awards. Grants Section staff also participate in the Department's strategic planning and annual budgeting processes.
